Eighteen years ago today on August 24, 1992, hurricane Andrew hit South Florida. This was the third strongest Category 5 hurricane to make landfall in the United States. I remember seeing the damage on TV. A reporter from Indiana compared the damage to that from a tornado. The exception being that damage from a tornado followed a path and the hurricane damage was everywhere. The video below is from a Miami TV station broadcasting during the storm. At the beginning of the video, they reporters are moving to a bunker inside the studio for protection.
