September and October are two of the driest months of the year, but its already dry. Are we heading for a drought? I doubt it, although most of Indiana has been placed in the "abnormally dry" category.
In the map at left, the areas shaded in yellow are "abnormally dry" while the tongue of tan working up the Ohio River valley is the moderate drought category. I think by next week we could easily be categorized as being in a moderate drought. Time will tell.
