70% of Nation Under the Blanket
Nearly every state in the nation has snow cover today. The holdout is Florida. Even Hawaii has snow on it's highest volcanic peak, Mauna Kea, although it is at 13,796 feet above sea level. Overall, 70% of the nation is snow covered. This is unusual, but not unheard of. The same thing happened last winter, but all 50 states had snow then even Florida. The snow across the south will soon be a memory. Temperatures locally are forecast to be a few degrees above freezing Saturday, so 500 miles south it will be much much warmer.
