Early Dog Days of Summer
Although the "Dog Days of Summer" aren't until August, I think they've come a bit early. The heat and humidity, along with what seems like endless daylight (I hate daylight saving time) has led to some very warm daytime temperatures. Today's high reached 89F (32C), but with dew points in the mid 70's the heat index today reached 102F (39C). Had we not had nearly 11 inches of rain (280mm) this month, the actual air temperature would be much higher. Drier air can heat much faster than moist air, so as long as the grass is green daytime temperatures will not get much higher than 90F or so.
