Great Plains Blizzard

The storm that will soon be affecting us with rain, wind, and colder temperatures brought a taste of winter to the Great Plains. Yesterday evening, a blizzard warning was in effect across western Kansas while a winter storm warning was in effect across western Nebraska. 9 to 12 inches of snow was possible with winds in excess of 50mph. Fortunately, or unfortunately if you are a winter lover, blizzard conditions did not develop and only 2-3 inches of snow fell. Still a pleasant October storm.

Locally, the drought continues. For the entire month of October, we have only received 0.38" of rainfall. I'm surprised to see that the most recent drought monitor has not categorized our area as anything more than "abnormally dry." Hopefully, after this weekend, that won't even be needed.
